After off-loading my Foz, I collected my things and sorted a nice and cheap silver MY04 Liberty GT wagon with the mighty 5EAT box

Image

Some of the basics of the car on taking ownership:

- EJ20Y with VF38...a teeny tiny town scroll ;)
- The Mighty 5EAT
- 235,600 km on the clock

I was really hoping for an LGT with leather seats, a sunroof and the McIntosh stereo system. I got none of those things :(

What I got instead for a bargain price is a car with:
- New spark plugs
- New timing belt
- New radiator
- New dba T3 4000-series slotted rotors F&R
- New Hawk SPC (semi-ceramic) pads F&R
- New Bridgestone RE002s (215/45R17)
- A body that I would describe as awesome for a car of this age and mileage (a few little scratches here and there, a couple of tiny dents, but otherwise, very clean)

The money that I saved by getting a car with slightly higher mileage and none of the luxury features can be put to better use:
- tyres for my STi 18x8 rims that don't scrub (getting 235/40R18 RE002s on Tuesday 11th March)
- Cusco RSB & endlinks
- 2006 LGT tb STi mufflers (bought today; actually I picked the car up, drove a few suburbs over, then picked these up :) )
- Custom stainless steel DP (with a v-band clamp holding the bell mouth on so it's a much easier job when, not if, but when I upgrade the turbo)
- a few other bits & pieces I'm sure...

I fitted up my STi knob this evening and also fitted the STi rims. Yes they scrub, but I'm only driving to work then to the tyre place then I'll have more appropriately-sized tyres ;)

Here is an awesome pro-level, low light pic from tonight:

I may have overestimated the quality of this pic...

So there it is, my new ride.

First impressions: loving it. A much nicer ride than my Foz was when stock, down on power, sure, but just more supple and responsive at the same time...

Thanks for reading,
Sean..

Thanks buddy!
I had the post-facelift NA when it was released, a black shagg'n'wagg'n. Was so much fun, but this, with boooooost (albeit from a turbo about the size of a baby's fist), is just so much more fun!

Potential is strong in this one: dual AVCS, massive ports (bigger even than the EJ257 ones :D ), redline of 7,000 RPM even with the auto... hmmmm

Quit ya bitchin' they'll see no more than 30 km more tomorrow before they are taken off...I better remember to tell the tyre place not to throw them out
