Original Post:
sooooo, finally found where everyone's build threads are hiding  better stick up a few pics of my foz

Image

its a 98 SF5, povo as they come (but it does have cruise control) with more than 350,000kms on it, most on corrugated dirt roads..its been the family wagon since new, but owing to the recent upgrade to an 03 XS its basically mine now hahaha i will legit buy it one day, i swear! for now at least, its transport until i get around to fixing the clutch on my benz

its since more than its fair share of wildlife...kangaroos, wallabies, even a wombat once i think..

wallaby \/
Image

recent roo hit resulted in this crappy fix of the weatherstripping. silly panel beaters, gootack != bracket
Image

tailgate is typically crap- trim falling off, rattles like a skeleton masturbating in a biscuit tin
Image

ooooother than that, its a good solid car. had a new tranny, clutch, timing belt, front cv's and all shocks within the last hundred thousand ks..and various body panels, courtisy of the wildlife/insurance company ahaha :P

Nice condition considering the kms.
10-15cm of electrical tape wrapped around the striker should sort that rattle.

haha yeah, probs coz its been mum driving it mostly..i havent driven it much on my Ps so it hasnt been thrashed too badly :P

had a trip down to the springvale wreckers today, among other things, stumbled upon a short shifter!! bargain!!

Image

had a go at putting it in this arvo...ksjbfvlr I DONT LIKE CIRCLIPS

trim off
Image

out with the 12mm bolt, jumped under the car, off with the exhaust heat sheild, then spent a good little while swearing at this little fellow
Image

did eventually pop it off by opening it a bit with one screwdriver, then fitting a little jewellers screwdriver underneath. safety goggles mighta been a good idea haha

short shifter went in easily enough, wiggled the bolt back in, went to put the circlip back on.....feeeecckkk. struggled for a good hour or two, thought i had it solved when i managed to stretch it over the end of a socket extension...but transferring was a problem, damn prop shaft!

$26.85 later (somehow talked myself outta the cheap but simple $8 pliers) circlip is on, after i *carefully* drove down to bunnings 8-) but i dont have a hex key to get the crappy old knob off, and the shifter boot on, so this is where it shall stay:
Image
lol you can see the old shifter, rejected and forgotten, sulking on the floor

so thats my first mod on the foz! still need to resoldor the clock, and straighten the passenger side door gusset, and properly adjust the tailgate striker....but i needa save something for when ive done my exams :?

other mods on the cards:
- exhaust, got SS UEL headers from my Impreza sitting in my room, but left the diff back at my parents place  goddammit!!
-Hella 500 driving lights..not sure about the placement, but theyre ready and waiting
-centre console pod: thinking itd be nice to get a compass dash pod, putting a plate in it with a load of switches, for the lights, sub etc. they look hard to come by though :(
-ICE: chuck some splits in the front, make use of the factroy tweeter holes! and probs just 3-ways in the rear doors, and a sub when i have the cash
-Impreza springs and struts. done my homework here ;) just need funds
-Whiteline RSB
-Ultrex rear strut brace
-wheels: reckon ill leave the stockers on for now, and just paint em black, and maybe the hubcaps and nuts body colour? hmmm

either way, i need a bloody job so i can pay for it all!!

Cheers

Modding is sometimes dependant on how long you can stand eating 2 min noodles.

The short shifter was a great pickup.

Hang in there

jeez! thats a fair ol' claim to fame!

gave my foz a wee bit of a thrash today- relieving traffic jam tensions. it is not fast at all, which makes me want to get the exhaust on SOON, as then itll at least sound good!!!

I was back at the wreckers as a matter of fact, hunting out some nice mercedes bits to flog to people, and i found the missing part of the gear knob on my short shifter. previously i had hated it, but it turns out its a momo knob :? and looks ok with its missing bit back..ten times greater when i can get the trim back on!!! ..maybe ill keep it.

^metal part says MOMO Italy. vair classy :P *edit* youve let me down, camera phone, youve let me down.
