Yep, this thread is long overdue, having been a member for too long without putting my car details up; but after finally paying off the finance on my Forester XT, I've been slowly getting bits done.

I've owned two Foresters, the first was an MY04 X Limited Edition, with the leather/cloth hybrid seats, and the XS alloy rims. But it was just a stepping stone to the car I really wanted - an MY06 Foz XT in Crystal Grey, with Luxury Pack. Leather seats and moonroof for the win! :-)

The car was pretty much stock for most of its life, save for the small addition of a Momo Race Air gear knob installed, which IMO should be included on a luxury pack XT. It certainly blends in with the steering wheel and dash trim pattern.

Next, the Geolanders were ripped out in place of Bridgestone RE001 Adrenalines which made a world of difference. No longer would I face embarrassing squealing in underground carparks (the Geolanders sounded like 14 year old girls at a Justin Beiber gig...) The Adrenalines were miles better, both in wet & dry conditions, though I haven't been able to make them chirp (maybe I'm just not trying hard enough).

About two years ago I put in Whiteline sway bars F&R, and some drilled & slotted DBA 4000 rotors (at stock sizes), which made the handling and braking vastly improved, as well as look the part. Also had an Exedy HD clutch put in when the stock clutch died at 27,000 km (faulty, but try getting Subaru Australia to replace it under warranty!).

That was about it until around March 2011, when I finally paid off the lease and the car was now mine to do with as I pleased! So the first stop was Pulse Racing for a tune and dyno run (timed nicely to coincide with the 100,000 km service):

Got to be happy with that on a stock motor. :-D

Then in August, along came the first exterior mod - the sports grille. $25 from the UK, but shipping brought that number up to $100 by the time it got to me. Still worth it though!

Around this time, I got bitten by the modding bug, but funds were tight, so I decided to only buy parts from other OzFoz members and keeps costs down. I'd initially had plans to make my XT into an STI, but the idea got canned quickly after my first trip to JapanParts. So Plan B was hatched - stealthy stock on the outside, subtle mods with the element of surprise on the inside... (cue evil laughter)

So first up was a VF43, then a TurboXS TMIC from be_oh_be soon followed. Snaffled scotty_000's Hypertec muffler, so I thought I was set... but then I got a bit carried away and decided that I had to lose the 17" rims for some 18s. Initially I wanted the Liberty tuned by STI rims, but once again they were hard to find and too expensive. However when Cruisn put his painted JDM STI rims up, I was smitten.... (and a bonus from work sealed the deal). So off to Pulse again...

At Pulse I got my arm twisted to go the full TCP exhaust, so I figured WTH and spent the last of the bonus on the full TCP setup. Good job I did, as after a little more tuning, Paul got the car to hit the magic 200kW number... (pity the printer was on the blink so I had to grab a pic of the monitor)

Pity also that my clutch died on the dyno, so clutch number 3 was installed (and the Pulse guys got to strip all the bits off the engine for the second time in two days..) :x

Also purchased some Brembos (fatman72), rear STI lines (MuzFoz), and an 02 scoop & STI splitter from gotitrex (ebay), though only the splitter has been installed so far.

Today's purchases:

1) Whiteline KSB599 Front Strut Brace
2) MRT Master Brake Cylinder Support bracket

Anyway, here's a pic of the car in its current state, with the 18" STI rims installed, and currently awaiting the painting/installing of the 02 scoop and Brembos. Damn them 18's make my rotors look puny. :D

Overall, I'm super-happy with the car, okay, so it doesn't quite look stock with the rims, but from infront and behind there's little to give away what's happening below the surface, which is just what I want. The exhaust note is great too, bassy and not droney, or loud (though I did cop it from the Minister of War & Finance when I got home).

I miss the instant point-and-squirt midrange fun of the TD04 after the car was tuned, but instead I now have silly amounts of grunt when I hit the pedal, all the way to redline. Also need to do the resonectomy or the PVC tube CAI, haven't decided which yet.

Anyway, thanks to all those OzFoz members who helped me crack the 200kW figure, I couldn't have done it without you. And much respect to everyone on here that's offered advice, I'm proud to be a participant amongst such a sound community.

See you at the Xmas picnic!

Good work Jasper.
The new hood scoop will make a huge difference to the look too.
