I Say: If 4 out of 5 people SUFFER from diarrhea... does that mean that one enjoys it?

Hi all.

I took the plunge into the world of Subaru about 3 months ago and bought myself a '03 FXT with 197,000km on the clock. It had quite a few problems and I only paid $12k for it so I figured with the rest of my budget I could get it back to being reliable.

Straight up problems were stuffed clutch, play in steering and a knock coming from the front of the car. My past experience is Diesel Mechanics and Aircraft Engineering doing apprenticeships in both so Im not afraid to get my hands dirty. Past rides include a RA23 Toyota Celica that I painstakingly rebuilt on an apprentice wage and won Best Contemporary at the Toyota Nationals.

So 3 months down the track and the list of work that I have done gets bigger and bigger:
1. Clutch replaced (gearbox out twice) can get it out in 3 hours now :-p The manual says allow 5.
2. Front springs replaced
3. Front shocks replaced
4. Swaybar bushes replaced
5. Sparkplugs fitted
6. Stereo/DVD fitted
7. Subwoofer fitted
8. Oil Catch can installed
9. PCV system re-routed
10. All globes replaced including headlights
11. Pollen filter replaced
12. Spoiler removed and refitted properly
13. Body kit re-fitted
14. Intercooler degreased/cleaned
15. Rear o2 sensor replaced
16. Rear gear stick bush replaced
17. Clutch fluid replaced
18. Transmission/front diff oil replaced
19. Front driveshafts serviced
20. Power steering pump replaced
21. AVICS filters removed
22. Dash lights replaced in climate control system
23. New gear stick knob fitted
24. 17" '07 FXT rims fitted
25. New Clarion 6.5" splits fitted in front
26. Intercooler to throttle body pipe replaced

Update for Jan 2011
27. New Sway bar drop links fitted
28. All light globes replaced in dash
29. Zerosports 60mm Gauge pod fitted
30. 60mm Racetech gauge fitted
31. DTR lights fitted

Update for Mar 2011
32. Turbo fitted
33. 'O7 STI uppipe fitted
34. Oil temp and Oil press gauge fitted

Update for May 2011
33. Short fat bit fitted
34. Lower control arm bushes fitted
35. New ball joints fitted
36. HID's fitted
37. New tires fitted

To go in:
1. Y pipe
2. Oil cooler o'rings
3. New std intercooler
4. Front O2 sensor

Still to do:
1. Rear shocks and springs
2. Check all bushes in rear and replace as required
3. Fix turbo
4. Adjust out play in the steering rack
5. Fit HID's

Cheers

Jas

Ok this is what she looks like now.

I have just ordered Daytime running lights and a STI hazard switch.

Also managed to get a OBDII dongle and software for my phone which is an awesome bit of kit.

Cheers.
I fitted 17" '07 FXT alloys. I need to get a pic up.
I really love the aggressiveness of the kit that came on this car I think thats why I fell in love with it.
Just got to save up for that STI scoop

When I bought the car it just hasn't been looked after that well and things were left so it was just a matter of going around and checking the plastic clips and at the front up near the guard the skirt was falling off.

Those front lips can be a PITA to get fitted nicely....mine was.

This car is coming on very nicely.....very nicely indeed.
